Documenter Kit Workshop - Jen Chapin

Jen Chapin has been scrapbooking since 2006! She's been on quite a few design teams over the years but is now just enjoying having some more free time to scrapbook for herself. She and her husband, Adam, live in the Midwest and have two children, Keira (8) and Connor (5). By day, she works as a nurse. She also enjoys reading, cooking, and decorating the new home they built last year. Learn more about Jen on her YouTube channel, Instagram feed, PinterestSC profile

Favorite things about the month's kit:

The "Be Happy" Kit was awesome to work with. Here were my favorites from the kit:

  • Chipboard hearts. Chipboard is one of my favorite products to work with and these hearts are so versatile.
  • Die-cuts. These were so cute and easy to use! I love combining these with foam adhesive to add dimension.
  • Stamp. I love including stamps in my scrapbooking projects! This month’s stamp had a few sayings which were perfect for adding to my pages.

What she'll be teaching:

In this workshop class, I’ll be showing you three pages. The first page is just a weekend spread where I was inspired by the spring products to document a recent date weekend. The second page uses the class cut file and is sort of a mini week-in-the-life page! The third and final page uses the add-on stamp to create a pocket page documenting my daughter’s birthday month.

Takeaways:

You’ll learn my process for creating pocket pages, as well as inspiration for using the kit. Hope to see you in the classroom!

Jen will be joined by three talented contributors this month: Jessica UptonCarson Riutta, and Azzari Jarrett. As always, each workshop comes with a free digital item. Check out this awesome printable Jen will be using in this month's workshop:

Planner Kit Workshop - Haley Pettit

Haley Pettit is a twenty-something writer, blogger, and planner girl in Portland, OR. Between updating her blog (Whatever Bright Things), revising her young adult novel, and creating planner pages for the SC Creative Team Gallery, Haley enjoys reading, journaling, and snuggling with her fifteen-year-old Cairn Terrier. A hopeless romantic with an appreciation for teen movies, pop tarts, boy-bands, and fashion magazines, Haley’s creative style is defined by a playful use of color and a generous dose of optimism.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

The "Be Happy" Planner Kit is filled with bright colors, playful patterns, and cute illustrations! My favorite item in the kit has to be the blue tassel keychain. The rich blue color is absolutely BEAUTIFUL for spring and I keep switching it between my planners! My other favorite pieces in the kit are the 2x3 stamp set designed by Life.Love.Paper. and the cloud sticky notes—both are functional yet still cute and playful!

What she'll be teaching:

In this workshop, we'll be creating a variety of different planner pages together! In the first lesson, we'll set our goals and intentions for the month using a flip-up inspiration spread. In the second lesson, we'll put the class digital to work making a super simple—and functional—weekly spread. In the last lesson, we'll create a fun monthly spread using Pinterest cut-outs and a cheerful add-on stamp.

Takeaways:

  • Ideas for using supplies as both functional and decorative elements
  • Techniques for layering that add interest without clutter
  • Inspiration for a variety of layouts
  • How to make kit elements work for you!

Haley will be joined by three talented contributors this month: Julie KinneeveaukTricia Romo, and Leah O'Neil. As always, each workshop comes with a free digital item. Check out this awesome printable Haley will be using in this month's workshop:

Scrapbook Kit Workshop - Kelly Noel

Kelly Noel has been an art lover her entire life. Scrapbooking was a perfect fit for her, and she started recording her memories in 1997 while in college. She found the online scrapbooking community in late 2004 and was totally obsessed from that time on. Kelly lives in Florida with her husband Tom and their three boys (Jackson, Brady, & Sawyer), and when she's not at one of her boys' baseball games, she's working with Studio Calico's teachers as the Education Content Coordinator.

Favorite things about the month's kit:

The "Be Happy" Scrapbook Kit has such a fun and fresh color palette. It makes it so easy to work with and document various stories. I love the patterned papers the most this month with the die-cuts being a close second.

What she'll be teaching:

In this workshop, I'm sharing my process for creating three projects with the "Be Happy" Scrapbook Kit. On the first layout, I'll create a layout with a bit of whimsy using a combination of patterned paper and one of the die-cuts. Then, we'll stretch the patterned paper in the main kit a bit further creating a frame for a full-page photo. In the final lesson, I'll share how I use the class cut files to create a fun background design on my page.

Takeaways:

  • How to stretch your patterned paper and create more pages with just the main kit.
  • Ideas for making the kit work for you, no matter what story you want to tell.
  • My process for using cut files in a simple but impactful way.

Kelly will be joined by three talented contributors this month: Meghann AndrewLaura Crosby, and Maggie Massey. As always, each workshop comes with a free digital item. Check out this awesome cut file Kelly will be using in this month's workshop:

So excited for the April kit: I hope it brings sunshine and warm weather to Canada to help melt the mountains of snow that we STILL have. Some of my favorite teachers for the April workshop too! I may have to try the workshop addition:)
