March 2018 Member Spotlight

Hi, I’m Jane Delén (@JaneD) and I love photos and beautiful papers! Ever since I was a little girl I have loved looking at photos, and I could spend hours looking through my grandmothers photo albums, asking her about the people in the pictures and the stories behind the photos. In 2004 I was looking for a baby book for our youngest son, but I couldn’t find one I liked so I decided to make my own. Looking for inspiration online I discovered scrapbooking and a new passion was born.

My husband, who is also my best friend, and I live in the south of Sweden with our youngest son, Henrik, who is turning 14 in May, our miniature schnauzer Effie and Ruby the rabbit. We also have three grown up children, Hampus 30, Jacob 28 and Josefine who’s 26, and four beautiful grandchildren, Maja aged 4,5, Casper 2,5 and our two new grandsons, Folke born on the 15th of March and Kit born on the 17th of March (less than 30 hours apart).

Apart spending time with family and friends, taking photos, paper-crafting and documenting our life I love music, reading, doing crossword puzzles and the nautical life. We have a small boat and often take trips along the south coast of Sweden and over to Denmark. I also love adventures and to learn new things.

Member Since: 

I have been a member here at SC since February 2015, that is also when I bought my first SC kits, the Far Far Away and Cirque Project Life kits. The best thing about SC is the community and the inspiration I get looking through the gallery and from the monthly challenges and the Sunday sketches. 1,5 years ago I was in an accident and hurt my left hand badly, and I couldn’t do any crafting whatsoever but I still visited the gallery on almost a daily bases. Inspired by all the beautiful creations I saw I decided to try to make paper crafting part of my physiotherapy using the monthly challenges and the Sunday sketches.

I still haven’t got the full use of my hand and I sometimes get frustrated when I can’t pick up little embellishments or get the backing paper of chipboard stickers etc, but I’m slowly getting there thanks to the inspiration here at SC.

Must-have product:

My must-have product from SC must be the documenter kit and digital stamps. I love getting my kit every month knowing the products match making it easy to put a spread together. I use the products in the kit for both project life spreads, scrapbooking and cardmaking, it is so versatile. Digi stamps are the perfect go-to when I get stuck, and an inexpensive way to personalize any project.

Life is busy! When do you find your best time to get creative?

I am a bit of a night-owl so I am usually the most creative late at night, and as my husband travels a lot for work I often spend my evenings in my craft room after our youngest have gone to bed. I am also trying to set aside time for crafting one morning a week.

Everyone has a scrap-struggle. What is yours? How do you overcome?

I think I have the same struggle as many other scrappers, I tend to hoard my favourite products. This year I have made a conscious decision to use all my supplies without thinking ”I might want to save that for that special project that might come up in the future”. There will always be new beautiful products that will inspire me.

Three simple things that make you happy. 

Besides the obvious (family and friend): A smile or a kind word, Sunshine and getting my SC kits in the mail :D
