April 2018 Member Spotlight

My name is Anna (@Umichka) and I live in Saint-Petersburg, Russia with my husband, our beautiful daughters who are six years old and three months old, and our cat, Diana. Crafting has been my hobby since 2011 when I was awaiting the arrival of our first baby. I also like to document our lives, practice photography, and play video games with my hubby.

I was a subscriber in 2013–2014 (Documenter and Scrapbook Kits), and I started subscribing again in 2018. I've been in love with monthly kits subscription ever since I heard about this idea, and Studio Calico's style changed my crafting life, opening new inspiration that led me to where I am now.

Must-have product:

Papers! And chipboard stickers—they are so cute and I like all designs. But paper is what I love the most! I often listen to what my supplies tell me; I let them inspire me, to give birth to some of my ideas. I can't imagine the creation of layouts without the bright patterns.

Here at SC, we strive to create a positive, creative and inspirational environment. What is one quote that inspires you most?

The words that inspire me last years: "The only thing that will stop you from fulfilling your dreams is you." (Tom Bradley) And it is so true!

Life is busy! When do you find your best time to get creative?

My best crafting time is in the morning or day when the babies sleep and I have an hour or two (but often only some minutes!) for me. Evenings are always for family time, and night is only for sleep. And this is perfect for me; I'm most productive in the mornings.

Everyone has a scrap-struggle. What is yours? How do you overcome?

Cleaning my crafting desk. Sorting my materials is very helpful in my case. But I never can finish these two tasks because I always find my inspiration in the process! Really! It allows me to find the materials I forgot I have and motivates me to start using them right now. The creative crisis—it's not about me.

What are three simple things that make you happy?

Healthy children, new supplies, and something tasty!
