NSD Crop Challenge | Doc to TN with Candace Perkins

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the NSD challenge at Studio Calico! I'm so excited to be with you today! My challenge is for you to use either a physical or digital Documenter Kit to create a traveler’s notebook layout. I find so often that the cards and embellishments can easily fit in my traveler’s notebook, and I love that I can stick short stories and memories safely inside my traveler's notebook! I used the May "Hey Girl" digital Documenter Kit to create a spread all about me and giving myself a little life encouragement.

I started with two cards from the digital kit. I changed the background on the floral card to white then printed it out large enough to create a pocket on one side of the spread. For the other side, I changed the writing to pink and then printed it out on vellum to create a fun flip out page.

On the right side of the spread, I printed a full-size photo that would be seen peeking through the vellum.

Lastly, I cut up a few cards from the physical kit to create tabs on the vellum to make it easy to turn the page. I also tucked the journaling that I added to a digital card inside the pocket on the left-hand side.

I love that I can customize cards and embellishments to fit the look and theme of my spreads using the digital cards and even mix them with the elements in the physical kit to bring more dimension and life to my spreads! I can’t wait to see what you'll create for this challenge! Have fun!

This challenge was great to catch up on the April pages in my journal. I start by scribbling down notes in a composition notebook throughout the month, and then transfer it to a mixed media journal. (I don’t use TN)

    I made a title page for a 2017 notebook. I cut a 4x6 Doc card down to 3x4: https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/211838-2017-title-page

IDK if this counts since it's not technically a "Documenter Kit" card, but I used a Documenter style /PL style card on this TN layout:

I don't have a TN so I made a spread for my journal. I was going to do my journaling on a 4x6 documenter card but my text got to long, so instead I placed a documenter card behind the photo. The card can be pulled out and on it I am going to do some journaling about my children and grandchildren that is a bit more private than the text I have shared. https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/211976-this-moment

    Thanks for the challenge!
