Design Tips | Golden Hour

Starting with a blank page can be an intimidating way to begin a project. The following design tips are perfect for pairing with this month's "Golden Hour" Kit, or just tuck them into your back pocket for a time when your creative mojo is low. Either way, we hope they’ll help inspire your next project!

Try a vertical title.

Maggie used a sticker label from the Traveler's Notebook Kit to house her stamped title on her project, #Squad. The vertical orientation balances the large photo on the opposite side of the spread perfectly.

Haley's title would have been too long to span across one side of her notebook spread in her project Oregon Files, so she turned the title on its side instead, keeping it aligned with the edge of the page.

France gave her Summer Favorites notebook spread a modern look by breaking her one-word title up into pairs of letters and stamping them vertically. With the Bowie Alpha Stamp, the result is stunning!

Repeat your stamping.

Haley made a huge impact in her notebook spread, Carpe Diem, by stamping her title over and over again filling up the entire right page. This is a great technique for creating your own custom patterned paper.

Kelly created a random pattern using the Totally Awesome stamp set above her photo. Stamping in multiple ink colors creates interest and balances the color on the left side of her Totally Awesome spread.

Use a full-page photo.

When you have a photo you love, printing it large is a great way to showcase it. Maggie's awesome photo pairs nicely with the simple elements and journaling on the right side of her spread in her project, Off the Pier.

Lisa gave her full-page photo a twist by spanning it horizontally across the bottom portion of her notebook spread, Currently. She was able to add more journaling with the use of a vellum overlay.

Lisa looked to the paper in this month's notebook for inspiration for this full-page photo, cropping it to fit inside the frame pattern on the page for her spread, Flower Magic. The result is beautiful!
