#NSDatSC | Challenge 03 - Washi Washi Washi

Washi tape is one of those "can't have enough" supplies - and it's always a way to add a little color to a page. Why not take on our next challenge and do MORE with washi tape? Use washi tape in three different places on your next project!

Celine Navarro : Hey everyone! Thank you for joining us over at Studio Calico to celebrate National Scrapbook Day!

Here's a brand new layout I made using this month's kit, Camelot, and my challenge is simple : find three different ways to use WASHI TAPE on your layout!

On this layout, I used washi tape as my background for my applique, then to attach the top of my photo and as a frame around my kraft cardstock!

Ready? Set? Go! Feel free to play along and join us in the fun!

Supplies : Camelot SB Kit; Washi Tape; Lemon Lush Acetate Butterflies (Studio Calico); Lemon Lush rubons; Wanderlust Vellum stickers

Natalie Elphinstone : I've used three different washi tapes on my layout in very different ways.... see if you can spot them! Firstly I used the Ampersand tape just like another paper layer - underneath my photo and in the clusters, including underneath the "Be You" diamond. Secondly I used the Gold washi to make a flag border along the bottom of my page. I cut it into square pieces and folded one end into a triangle shape before sticking a series of these in a straight line. I used my sewing machine to stitch them into place permanently. And thirdly I used the Navy washi to create my title, which is not as difficult as it might appear. I simply stuck down strips of it onto plain paper before running it through my Silhouette. Using a slow setting, and putting it on 'double cut' meant it had no problem cutting out my fiddly words.

Supplies : Blue Note Scrapbook Kit - paper, embellishments, washi tape; Blue Note Printable Journal Cards and Labels; Sugar Rush Card Kit Digital Stamps - "hoot and holla"; Color Theory Paper Pack - pink background paper; Excalibur Add On Kit - gold washi; Block Party Scrapbook Kit - navy washi; Wanderlust Roller Stamp; Color Theory Inks - Emerald City, Deja Blue

Lisa Truesdell : Washi is one of my top "must have" items for Project Life® - it doesn't add bulk and it doesn't require a paper trimmer. My favorite way to use it in my album is very simple - it makes a perfect border on journal cards or photos! I've used washi here on the bottom of my calendar card, along the top of a photo and to help hold a printed banner in place.

Supplies : Camelot Scrapbook kit (aqua and coral patterned paper); Excalibur & Guinevere add-ons (yellow & navy patterned paper); Camelot Project Life® kit (journal cards, banner, chipboard asterisk); Bluegrass Farm Project Life® kit (skinny washi); Pip add-on (puffy heart, yellow washi); label - Hello Forever printable; calendar card - Hello Forever; ink - Color Theory Clean Slate; other - Tiny Attacher, aqua washi

We can't wait to see your take on this challenge! To be entered to win a prize from the Calico Closet, please post your project in the Studio Calico gallery by May 11th and add the tag #NSD3 in the description. Challenges may be combined - just add both tags in your description. Winners will be posted on May 12th.

I don't normally use a lot of washi, so I was quite pleased with managing to complete this challenge :) 1) Woodgrain washi holding on the pictures, 2) sentiment washi on the tag and patterned paper, and 3) "captured on:" washi prompting the date!

I used washi as a border, to create pennants at the top of the page and as a journaling spot

I used washi here to seal little items in a pocket and also to frame it. Love gold washi!

Here's mine - wide washi for background, narrow washi for journaling lines and the arrow washi cut and used as a design element:
