Use Your Stash | Karen Baker
We’ve all been there...it has to be done once in a while...you’d rather be spending your time getting creative...but what am I rambling on about? I’m talking about clearing out some of your stash or cleaning up your workspace! When I clean up my desk, I find all sorts of things - mainly enamel dots, glitter or wood veneers. What I find most of all is scrap paper. Don’t throw them out - recycle. I keep a box near my desk, and all the scraps go into it (it’s currently overflowing by the way). It has paper, journaling cards, and embellishments in it, basically anything left over from working on many layouts.
So here’s how to use up some of your scraps!
Here’s some of what I used for this layout.
Circles are my favorite shape at the moment. I went with two different size punches. I went through my scrap box and pulled coordinating papers & then chose any embellishment that was circle shape. Punch out paper circles.
I choose a few papers to layer underneath to frame the photo; this is a hard process that I’m still trying to figure out in scrapbooking.
Now that the hard part is done, next comes the fun, start placing your circles anywhere you want, I had a fairy light idea in my mind, so I placed the circles in lines going down the page. I used other embellishments such as sequins, enamel dots & wood veneers to break up the paper circles for that extra bit of dimension.
Keep going right across the page. Adding the circles & embellishments with glue first then sew them down.
I placed a strip of coordinating paper along the bottom & added a ‘smile’ wood veneer that I had near the photo.
Hope you find joy in using up some scraps from your workspace; it’s a great feeling knowing you are using them up & not wasting them.
This is a wonderful happy layout! You didn't have any problem stitching through the wood veneers?

Thanks girls, loved this layout too, it's currently pinned to my wall in my studio! @pinksoup I haven't had a problem sewing through wood veneers yet, maybe some might be too thick but my needle seems to be coping so far :)
