#NSDSC15 | Challenge 02 - From Crafternoon to Kitchen with Lisa Spangler and Jamie Waters
Consider this a sort of "Recipe Challenge." Create a project using 5 specific products (recipes): tag, wood veneer, patterned papers, washi, or a journaling card. A few of our Creative Team members have taken on trying these out for you, so add these fabulous, quick recipes to your scrapbook or card projects, and try them out yourself while you're at it!
Lisa Spangler: Hey hey and happy NSD! I hope you like this tag-card that I cooked up for the Recipe Challenge! I just love challenges like this, they really get my creative juices going. The first thing I did was pick my journaling card -- I chose this BONJOUR card that I'd been hoarding and then it all kind of went from there.
Here's a little bit about each of the 5 ingredients we were to use:
- Tag: I decided to make a tag shaped card -- love making shaped cards! I just hand cut it from white cardstock and then splattered it with inky black Mister Huey's.
- Wood veneer: I thought the wood veneer leaf from the Katherine add-on almost looked like lips to go with the BONJOUR. Ooooo la la! I decided to mist it black to go with the rest of the card more.
- Patterned papers: that's a no-brainer! I sewed some strips on with gold metallic thread. The black striped paper from the Carolina Moon card main is very French, am I right?
- Washi: I wanted to do something a little different than using it as tape. So, I tore some off, then folded it in half to use as the twine on the tag.
- Journaling card: that's where this all began! :)
Can't wait to pop this into that pink envelope from this month's Card Basics kit and send it to a friend!
Can't wait to see what everyone "bakes" up for the challenge! xo.
Supplies: Cirque Project Life kit, Carolina Moon card kit, Katherine Embellishment kit, Pink envelope from the Card Basics, Mister Huey's Inky Black, sewing machine with gold metallic thread, washi tape
Jamie Waters: I love using recipes! It really helps me cut the decision making process down and focus on those items only! Here's what I did with the 5 items: tag, washi tape, patterned paper, wood veneer and journaling card. For the wood veneer, I attached them to the tag. Pretty simple. I loved mixing up the past kits wood veneers I had leftover! The patterned papers were mixed from past kits. The washi tape was layered on the journaling card. I trimmed the journaling card and turned it into my title card. I love how this layout turned out!
Supplies: Kraft cardstock, Small white tag, Tiny Attacher, Adhesive, Pen, Black ink, Lisse Kit, Walden Kit, Far Far Away Kit, Printable Card, Park Ave Project Life Kit
We can't wait to see your take on this challenge! Thanks for the inspiration ladies! Fun challenge!
I pulled out one of my all time favorite washi tapes - the grey chevron from the Spencers kit and matted the journaling card with it. LOVE that washi! :) http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/163331-you-are-my-happy

The 5 ingredients are in here. The veneer is painted silver and the washi is under the tulle.
