altered Project Life® boxes | Julie Campbell

I love the adorable boxes that the Project Life kits come in!  They’re extremely sturdy & the magnetic closure is great for keeping all of the supplies safely stored inside.  But, what do you do with the boxes once your supplies have all been exhausted?  I’ve got some tips on repurposing your boxes & a how-to video that will hopefully spark some ideas.

In the video, I show you how to create a simple first aid kit using a few basic supplies.

(First Aid Kit Supplies: Project Life box; patterned paper: Thataway “Signposts” & 12x12 paper pad; chalkboard tape: Salinger kit; Thataway Wood Veneer Journaling Cards; Thataway Chalkboard Stickers - Alphas & Icons; other: white acrylic paint)

Here are a few other ideas for altering your Project Life boxes:

1.  Create a Get Well kit and fill the box with cookies or a jar of homemade soup.

2.  Create a Survival kit for a new teacher or college student. (Pinterest has some great ideas on how to fill these kits!)

3.  Create a Card Kit filled coordinating greeting cards or monogrammed stationary.  (Here’s an example of a card kit I created.)

4.  Create an Art box for your children & fill with school supplies.

5.  Create a Travel Memorabilia box & stash travel ephemera inside.  (Here’s an example of a travel kit I created.)

The list could go on & on.  I’d love to see your ideas as well!  Please upload your altered project life books to the gallery & leave a link so that we can check it out!

I was just wondering how I would use these boxes! I love them. Thanks for your great ideas! They might just be great for storing wafer thin dies, and letterpress inks!

A friend and I were just talking that it would only be a matter of time before SC came out with a class and kit on how to repurpose those boxes. Thanks, instead, for some great free inspiration!!

I use my boxes for my pl supplies. One box has all my favorite PL cards, full to the brim! Next box has diecuts. A candy tin holds my journaling tags. And another PL box has enamel dots, paper clips, brads, & other bulky embellies for PL. So, these are great new ideas & I will look forward to using them with my next boxes!
