Who doesn't love a good sketch challenge?

What I love most about sketches is that it takes the guess-work out of the basic design of your page, but still allows you creative freedom to interpret the different elements to suit your own style. This particular sketch follows a simple blocking technique which is quite an easy way to build up a layout, but how you fill in each of the blocks is entirely up to you. It's particularly great for showing off some of your favourite patterned papers or fancy art techniques!

Winners will be chosen on Thursday, January 16th at 5pm EST and will be announced on the blog Friday, the 17th. To be entered to win a prize from the Calico Closet, make sure to include #SCCROP2014 and Challenge #7 in your description when you upload your project to the gallery. You may enter multiple projects for more chances to win, and your project can be submitted to more than one challenge. And remember, every challenge entry tagged with #SCCROP2014 is entered for a chance at our Grand Prize!

This was a fun sketch and gave me a chance to use a little bit of some older kits! :) http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/109125-that-smile

I was drawn to the lined journaling and row of embellishments, so that is how I interpreted this sketch:
