Sunday Sketch I Jennifer

This week, Jennifer (SC username, Jenns Doodles), is sharing her take on both of our sketches! Jenn's style is beautiful and her layouts are full of great details. We love seeing her work in the gallery and couldn't wait to see her work with the sketches!

First, let's look at this week's sketches - our layout comes from Elizabeth Kartchner's That Face layout:

And our card comes from JJ Bolton's Diamond Diagonal card:

And here are Jennifer's beautiful interpretations of both sketches:

Love from Above / scrapbook sketch: I really loved Elizabeth's layout. The way she used one really large photo and then the smaller one really inspired me. It was unexpected & it's something I never would of thought of. Once I received the sketch & knew that my Sugar Rush kit was being delivered I knew exactly which patterned paper and photos I wanted to use. I had 2 photos of this moment that I really loved & showed the most expression. One was horizontal which I decided to make 6x12. The other photo was a vertical photo that I thought would be perfect for the smaller photo spot on the sketch. I used the Sugar Rush studio cut file for part of my title and I placed the letter stickers on a vellum banner to help it stand out against the busier patterned paper. I pop dotted the butterflies to give some dimension. This included the photo of the butterfly in my photo, which was a color copy of my image.

Supplies used: Sugar Rush kit - plastic wonky hearts (hello forever for SC), enamel dots (twine and ink); Add on Patterned Paper - SC flighty PP, SC gold punchinella vellum; SC Lemon Lush ephemera pack, AC/SC Thickers (from December Daily kit), SC pink chipboard hearts, gold zing embossing powder, POW glitter paper

The Del - Worth the Wait / card sketch: I loved working with the large photo so much. So I decided to adapt the card sketch into a scrapbook layout & use another large photo. I kept the layout pretty simple because I really wanted the photo and story to be the focus. I printed my photo 8 1/2 x 11 and I trimmed it a little so I could mount it on white card stock. I cut the patterned paper on an angle to mimic the sketch. I used the branding strip from the paper as a border to give a little interest. I then placed my larger title where the sentiment area is on the sketch. Once I had the concept of what I wanted it went pretty quickly by following the guidelines of the sketch. Really enjoyed working with larger photos and will definitely be incorporating this into my layouts more often.

Supplies: Marks & Co. Kit - SC Twinkle Twinkle patterned paper; Woolf add on - AC Amy Tangerine Sorbet patterned paper, MME Cut & Paste Hey You buttons; AC/SC printshop Thickers, SC Studio Selections tags, SC letter stickers

We love Jennifer's creative take on these two sketches! Thank you for joining us this week, Jennifer! If you'd like to see more of Jennifer's work, follow her here at Studio Calico and check out her blog.

I think this will be the first time I've done a card with the card sketch. It was so easy to have the sketch to follow! Thank you!!!
