weekly challenge | Jenn Picard

This week I am happy to say I am challenging you to look at the negative! It is no secret that I love cutting things out. Whether is be manual die cutting using metal dies or my Cameo for digital cutting. There are so many amazing designs and shapes out there and I feel that they are a great way to add a little extra something to my projects. But what I love most about them is not only can you use the shape that was cut out, you can also use the negative image that was left. For my Office Hours card gallery this month I made two fun cards using the awesome Studio Calico Digital Files and my Cameo to create some negative cuts.

For the first card I cut out the umbrella shape from the Office Hours Card Kit Digital Stamps out of watercolour paper, then lightly watercoloured the background using a rainbow of Color Theory inks.

With the second card I decided to cut out one of the phrases from the Office Hours Project Life Digital Stamps. I used some gorgeous patterned paper from the Office Hours Water Cooler Add on and created a fun interactive shaker card.

Supplies :Silhouette Cameo,Office Hours Card Kit Digital Stamps + Coordinating Cuts,Office Hours Project Life Kit Digital Stamps + Coordinating Blank Cuts, Office Hours Card Kit, Water Cooler Add on, Mister Huey's Gold, Color Theory Inks-Well Red, Orange County, Sunny Day, Emerald City, Something Blue and Deja Blue

Now it’s your turn to be negative and create a Scrapbook layout, Card or Project Life page using a negative cut. Can’t wait to see what you come up with! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCtutorialto make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by March 17th to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop!
