LOTW | Chantal

Our Layout of the Week, Fall Instagrammed, comes from our member Chantal (username chantalphillipe). Chantal added this layout to the gallery for our Weekly Challenge and our community fell in love with her grid design and vellum overlay. A few years back, I had to part ways with my Nikon D90. Because of this, pictures were few and far between and so lat Fall, I decided to turns things around. Since the only other picture device I have is my iPhone, I searched, downloaded apps, familiarized myself with iPhonography and orchastrated a mini photo session outside in our backyard with my daughter. Even though the pictures turned out beautifully in colour, I have always preferred the look and feel of a black & white photo. This also made it much easier for me to come up with a general colour scheme for the layout. First I dug up a few cards from myMidnight Edition Core kit by Liz Tamanaha (I always add these to something or other) and then printed up some bright coloured ones to add to the mix. I originally had placed everything on my background paper to mimic a Project Life 6x8 pocket page but I wasn’t happy with the overall blockish look of it and that’s when I decided to slightly overlap and rotate the photo and cards. The remainder of my layout was essentially pieced together with scrap pieces from previous projects (LOVE those vellum stars from my December Daily), a few digital printables and cut files from past kit/classes and even a SC LemonLush ad insert; I just flipped it over to use the notebookish printed background.

I am so very pleased, happy and humbled to be featured this week. To be singled out amongst all that pure and raw talent being showcased in the gallery every day, is a feeling like no other.
