#NSDatSC | Challenge 01 - Color Challenge

Happy NSD everyone! Are you ready to start crafting? We're kicking things off with a color combo challenge! We've put together a mood board filled with aqua, navy, pink and just a touch of gold. You should be able to find these colors in our three most recent kits - Camelot, Bluegrass Farm, and Office Hours - but please feel free to use any product you like for this challenge!

Lilin Fang : absolutely love this mood board and am happy to be working on this color challenge! The image of the paints on the board inspired me to add mixed media into this page, so base on the colors on the board, I picked out the gelatos to create a background with the sweet nothings stencil by Teresa Collins. I colored the hearts with gelatos then I added water to blend them. There is no mint green in the set, so I blend the color using green, yellow and white gelatos. Love how easy is it to blend you own colors and how it turned out! Then I cut out 3 frames from the Dear Lizzy Fascinating Friends paper and colored them with gelatos to match the background. I attached the frames to a twine using wooden clothespin, flag pin and a green maggie holmes resin flower pin. Next, I embellish the page with stickers, sequins, vellum shapes, a rose die cut, and rub ons. I love the scripted writing on the mood board so I wanted to add my title in a similar way. I dipped my brush into mr huey’s navy blue mist and wrote my title – I heart you. To balance the page, I added more ink splatters at the top left hand corner with Mr Huey’s gold and seafoam mist. I’m happy how this mood board has inspired me to create this layout. I would love for you to join me in this color challenge and create a project with this pretty mood board too! Have lots of fun!

Maggie Massey : I may have squealed a little when I saw the mood board for this challenge! Pinks, blues & gold? So awesome! I chose the photo I wanted to scrap and then rifled through my kits and pulled out everything I thought might work. I was really drawn to the geometric & watercolor images from the board, so I incorporated those with modeling paste, a chevron mask & my new Mr. Huey's watercolor palette. I also cutmy photo into two parts...the two pieces (title & photo) were just not doin' it for me...so I made them three parts. The randomness and texture of the paste and paints kind of set the mood for my page & I just sort of went with it...placing embellishments wherever they seemed to fit...and keeping my photos and title really simple.

Leena Loh : This color palette is my absolute favorite and when I saw this color combination, I pulled out my supplies from my PL kits, PL add-ons together with some items from the shop and immediately worked on my spread. I've even painted one of my 4x6 cards using Mister Huey's Watercolor with the blue, pink and black colors and I love how it turned out!
