#NSDatSC | Challenge 06 - Use Your Leftovers

We're at the end of the day, and we're hoping that you have a nice stack of finished projects and a delightfully messy workspace. Instead of cleaning up, put those scraps to good use! For our last challenge, we'd love to see you use your leftovers on a project.

Stephanie Baxter : Because my Project Life® spreads are fairly simple, I'm always left over with some goodies from the kits each month, as well as other items in my stash that I never get round to using a whole pack of. I wanted to make an insert for my Project Life album to celebrate my 28th birthday back in March, which I had already printed an 8x10 photo for. On its own, it didn't exactly say birthday, so I added some small bits of paper from various 4x6 paper pads that coordinate with each of the monthly kits. I then had the idea of creating a page to lay on top of that, using vellum as the base so that the photo would still be visible underneath. I embossed those amazing wood veneer numbers with gold glitter embossing powder, and while it was cooling down, I used my sewing machine to stitch a rough oval shape. After that I adhered the numbers over the top of the stitching, as well as some sequins, puffy stickers and bits of paper I punched into star shapes. I put each item into its own page protector so that the photo can be seen without the vellum by turning the first page protector.

Paige Evans : After I made my required layouts for the Camelot reveal I had so much product leftover! These kits are always packed to the nines with goodies so it was easy to come up with an extra layout using scraps. I love patterned paper so I punched squares from all of the papers in all of the kits, trimmed them into triangles, and pieced them into a chevron background for a dynamic look. I layered photos on an envelope and book paper then embellished around it to create a focal point.

Becky Novacek : I really love the satisfaction of using little bits and pieces of leftover pattern paper and embellishments, and particularly from my Studio Calico kit. The reason I think it's so gratifying to use the scraps from a kit, is that you feel like you've used every little bit that you purchased. I think because I always love almost every single item in the kits, I feel like I not only need to use them, but I WANT to! So when I signed up for the NSD challenge to *use your scraps*, I knew that I wanted to create a big title with all the beautiful leftover pattern papers. So this layout is very straightforward and easy, simply create a title by hand cutting your letters…I think if you use your Silhouette Cameo to cut your title, I can accept that too! So use that pattern paper peeps!

Gillian Nelson : I used only papers/supplies from the Camelot kits that I'd already broken into/cut up. Lots and lots of punching. :) (Except for my background paper, of course, which is from the SC Grid 12x12 Papers.)
