Weekly Challenge | Ribbon with Nirupama

Tags:

This week, our member Nirupama (username nirupama01), is challenging you to break out your ribbon stash. We're excited to turn our weekly challenges over to the SC community! Check in each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to follow Nirupama here at SC and visit her blog to see more of her work and keep up with her!

I was busy trying to catch up on Project Life (and packing, and taking care of a newborn and making personalized end of the year teachers gifts) and hadn't scrapped in a while. It was really killing me, so I found a little time and finally cracked open my shiny new Camelot kit. I pulled out that very cool and graphic speech bubble paper clip and loved the way it looked on top of my photo.
I decided to play with patterned neutrals as an alternative to white cardstock which I often use. I love the new printed vellum and layered it over the pale woodgrain paper. Taking inspiration from the Kelly Purkey's third sketchbook project, I cut apart the vellum into strips. Using the pattern as a guide for some extra chevrons which I stitched into place over the existing pattern. To add even more texture to the layout I added the wood tape from Merlin and a wide blue ribbon from the card kit which I lightly watercolored the edges to give it a little depth. I love how ribbon can add so much color, texture and movement to a layout, yet I tend to think of it as something only for cards or minis so I rarely put it on a layout.
My challenge to you? Pull out some of that gorgeous ribbon stash, personalize it in some way and use it on a new project!

Thank you so much to Studio Calico for inviting to play along with this week's member challenge. I have long been a part of this community and after all these years I am still in love with the kits and inspiration here every month.

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Nirupama's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by May 26th to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop!
