Sunday Sketch | Lilin

This week, our layout sketch is a 12x12 layout with two small photos and lots of patterned paper strips. Our card sketch features a centered circle design, and our Project Life sketch uses a circular caption and 3x4 photo.Creative Team member, Lilin Fang, is joining us this week & sharing her take on our card sketch. Here's Lilin's take on our card sketch:

I love all the sketches this week, but the card sketch base on Carissa's The One For My Friend card really speaks to me. I love the beautiful and simple design with the circle as the main element of the card, so I used it as a starting point for my layout. First, I used gold gelato to draw and define the circle in the middle of my white card stock. To add layers to the circle element, I filled it up with hearts I fussy cut from the white card stock. I choose to use white here instead of patterned paper because I want the hearts to create a tone on tone effect and to remain as a background for my photos and embellishments. Next, I decided on the placement my photos and used patterned paper to create a banner below them. I replace the big sentiment on the sketch with 3 phrase stickers and used one of them - You make me happy when skies are gray as my title. The scattered stars on sketch also prompted me to add the butterfly and hand drawn leaf as embellishments to my layout. Lastly, I finished the layout by adding some ink splatters, date stamp and my journaling. I always love how a good sketch can inspire me to create.
