weekly challenge | Ashley Cannon Newell & Nicole Samuels

Tags:

How about a fun pattern challenge this week? We're going wild and crazy and asking your to combine two bold patterns: chevron and stripes! You can decide how much of each to use and the colors, scale, etc., but we want to see your ideas for scrapping with these two rather hip patterns.

From Ashley:

Mixing patterns is such a trend in the fashion world and how appropriate are the patterns found in the papers in Studio Calico kits?! I just had to throw in lots of color and combine a chevron print with stripes to come up with a fun and interesting birthday card. This card will surely make a birthday girl/boy smile with glee!

Don't forget the sprinkles and don't be afraid to mix up some patterns, like chevron and stripes!

From Nicole:

I used chevron and stripes both in a more muted color palette and on varying scales (a smaller chevron with a medium size stripe) which helps them work well together. For a more challenging "challenge", try going with bolder colors and larger scale patterns and see what you can come up with!
