Weekly Challenge | Circular Photo with Jen

Tags:

This week, our member Jen (username jenrn), is challenging you to use a circular photo on your next project. We're excited to turn our weekly challenges over to the SC community! Check in each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to follow Jen here at SC and visit her blog to see more of her work and keep up with her!

Hi all! Jen here and today I'm excited to be sharing a layout with you as well as a challenge. I was inspired by the pattern of this lovely paper to use a large circular photo. I used Photoshop to open a photo file of my son on the swing and used the tutorial HERE that details how to crop your photo into a circle. After printing it on photo paper I simply used scissors to cut it out. I added foam adhesive to adhere the photo to my layout to add dimension. I also used my exacto knife to trim a few pieces from the paper and added cardstock and patterned paper behind in the negative space. After embellishing with SC wood veneer, sequins, chipboard and cork embellishments my layout was almost complete. To reinforce the circular theme I added my title around the photo as well.

My challenge to you is to use a circular photo on a layout! You can use the tutorial above to make a larger circle, or think about using circle punches on smaller photos as well. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Jen's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by June 16th and to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop!
