Meet Addison
Last week, as part of our 7th anniversary celebration, we shared an oh so sweet printable by Shanna Noel's daugther, Addison. All of our existing members, as well as new members who signed up for a Studio Calico account and filled out the survey on their dashboard last weekend will now find this printable under their "My Digital Files" - but we wanted to share a bit more about the artist behind this print!
Addison is a seven year old little girl who lives in Northern California with a family who just adores her! She loves riding her bike, playing with her puppy Lucy and anything that sparkles!
What inspires you?
"humm... well I just sort of listen to what my heart tells my head to do"
What do you love most about creating?
"I love that there are no rules and you really can do whatever you want"
How long have you been an artist?
"well I am 7 so 7 years... that is a silly question!"
What mediums do you like to create with?
"I really love staplers, scissors, markers, washi tape and stamps"
Where is your favorite place to create?
"I love the craft room but sometimes I like to put my journal in my basket (on my bike), take a ride and just take a break to draw what I see"
What inspired you to create the ice cream cone?
"Well it was my Aunt's birthday so I just thought she needed something fun!"
What do you hope to create in the future?
I want to make BIG art, like HUGE... do you think we can make that happen?

Oh my gosh Adddison you're my hero. Shanna Noel thanks for sharing your special piece of the world with us. Addison I love how you said "there are no rules" and that you "just listen to your heart." That makes me so happy sometimes I think as adults we forget about those things. We think about rules like that colour can't go with that colour or you have to use things in 3s or you have to include this or you can't use that and all those thoughts totally ruin our love for art and ruin our creative process. I'm going to try and listen to my heart more too. Hey Addison I'd like to add one more question to the list. What do you think about your mom's Bible?

Addison is SO crazy talented. I can't believe she's only 7, just a year old than my son who also loves to color and play with my stamps, but nothing like that. ;) Her comments are just the sweetest, too. <3 Shanna is an amazing and creative person, it's no wonder her daughter would be the same. xoxo

7 years old? Wow i am impressed! Addison please please please do not ever start to doubt your creative ability or forget to make time for it. The question about how long she's been an artist, her answer was brilliant! It's inspirational and we should all remember the freedom that comes with being an artist of any kind and never think we have to meet certain "conditions" to qualify. If you made something and consider it art, then you're an artist.
