Workspace Wednesday | Leena Loh

Hello everyone! I’m excited to be here today to share my little nook where I scrapbook. It is actually a part of the family study room but over the years, I have officially declared it my scrap space since no one really steps into the room except to grab books to read. I have a wall of built-in shelf filled with hundreds of books which my hub and I collected over the years. At one end of the room where the window is located, I bought myself an Ikea table and placed it against the wall. We’re lucky to be living in an apartment on the 9th floor and the room gets generous stream of natural lighting in most days throughout the year in our tropical island.

I love spending time at this cozy corner of my workspace working on my project life during the weekend when I have my days off from work. To make this space even a better place to hang out, I’ve decorated the wall with wooden shelves and mood board and I filled them with bits and pieces of items such as my collection of vintage cameras, miniature figurines, display home wares etc. Sometimes I would just sit right at the table and not do anything but look at the wall, and soak in all the goodness.

These days, I would usually spread out my most current PL spread on the table. I chose to leave it this way so I can come back to it over the weekend, print my photos, place them into the pockets and work on each card over few hours and sometimes a couple of days. Once it’s done, I would move the spread into my album and the cycle continues.

I have a huge collection of washi tapes that I amassed over the years. I used to store them in my wired baskets and I end up not using them as much as I wanted to because I can’t remember what tapes I have. So one day, I saw a washi tape holder on a blog and got super inspired to build one myself. The wood was actually taken from my company’s freight pallet which was discarded. The hub and I built it together and I was extremely happy it turned out the way I wanted it. It now sits proudly on my table, holds about 170 pcs of my washi tapes and I get to use them more often!

Next to my table is a shelf that I bought from Ikea where I placed drawers of PL cards, albums and printer. I used to store my printer away on another shelf and I find it very inconvenient to bring it out and place it on the table to connect to my laptop each time I need to print my photos. So, now the printer sits just next to my table and I can easily connect it to my laptop and print them right away.

All my PL cards are organized in this wooden crate that I got from Typo sale at 60% off. I love that it fits the 3x4 cards perfectly. The cards are organized by kit or collection and I separate them with labeled manila tags.

On the opposite side of my work table is the Expedit shelf that I got from Ikea too. This is where I store my scrapbook supplies. I’m a big fan of Ikea storage solution and this shelf is definitely one of my favorites. I keep my Studio Calico goodies in baskets, paint brushes, more sticker sheets and washi tapes, stamps in handbook etc.

I’ve been storing my stamps in the Studio Calico handbooks the past one year. They really do come in handy and the stamps fit into the pocket protectors perfectly! It acts like a stamp catalogue and enables me to flip through the pages of stamps easily.

I have one box dedicated to all my Letterpress supplies and another box for my Sizzix dies.

This clear acrylic drawer is another favorite storage I own. It’s from MUJI and they store all the little pieces of my wood veneer collection. I would always turn around from my table, grab this drawer from the shelf and pick out the wood pieces for my PL spreads. I love that it’s a clear drawer and I can view the wood pieces at one glance.

And this Raskog cart from Ikea would be my all-time favorite organizer for my project life supplies. It stores all the things that I use for my project life and I always park it near my work table so I can easily reach for it.

The top tier of the cart is where I placed the wooden drawer with the latest Studio Calico PL kit. Every month when I receive my kit, I would transfer all the items from the kit box into the wooden drawer. When I’m ready to work on my project life, I would just grab the wooden drawer and place them on my work table. Besides the kit items, I’ve also placed my tool such as date stamp, ink pad, acrylic block, scissors, printable labels etc. in the drawer. Basically, they store all the things that I use only for my project life.
