Sunday Sketch | Dana
This week, our layout sketch is an 8.5x11 layout with a large photo and grid design. Our card sketch features a row of buttons and our Project Life sketch uses a square photo and caption . Creative Team member, Dana Fleckenstein, is joining us this week & sharing her take on our layout sketch. Be sure to follow Dana here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.
First, let's look at this week's sketches - our 8.5x11 layout sketch comes from Nicole Samuel's Fancy layout:
Our card sketch comes from Chari Moss' Special Day card:
And our Project Life sketch comes from Deb Duty's Project Life - January spread:
And here's Dana's take on our card sketch:
I adore clean grid designs when they pop up in the member gallery so it was no wonder Nicole's beautiful layout stood out to me. To accommodate for my smaller card canvas (4,25 x 4,25 in), I concentrated on the four squares on the bottom right of her page and knew I wanted to use the label, sewing and sequins or other small embellishment.
I started out with two different all black/white papers from the Poet Society card paper pad and sewed around three of the squares with neon thread. Then I decided to have the sentiment label in the lower right square and arrange the stars diagonally over the text paper. For some more contrast, I worked with randomly stamped stars from the card kit in neon pink on the white paper as well. The diagonal direction draws the eye right in on the sentiment.
Supplies : Poet Society Card kit, Jar Stamp Set, Poet Society Printable Labels, Craft Die: Labels, Hero Arts Pink Neon Ink Pad, Glossy Accents
