Weekly Challenge | Go Big with Ashli
This week, our member Ashli (username soapHOUSEmama), is challenging you to use something small in a big way. We're excited to turn our weekly challenges over to the SC community! Check in each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to follow Ashli here at Studio Calico to see more of her work and keep up with her!
My most favorite part of scrapbooking is playing with all the little bits and pieces. And, I also love a good scrapbooking class! So, armed with a sketch and inspiration from Camp Scrap with May Flaum, I put this layout together. Our new baby is affectionately nicknamed "scrunchy" as she scrunches up her whole face and body in the cutest ways. With my photo picked out, I set about grabbing various bits and pieces from the Penny Arcade Project Life Kit, along with plenty of sequins too! The soft colors of the photo dictated my limited color palette. And boy, did I have more fun layering up all of those sequins! They created the perfect "shelf" for my photo. Plus, that fun handwritten printable from Anna Maria didn't hurt either :) I also love adding a touch of unexpected whimsy to my pages, so those little smiling fruits are the perfect addition. And, I couldn't resist "dangling" one from the stitched line!
So, what's my challenge to you? Use something small in a BIG way on your next project! Sequins, enamel dots, stamps, glitter.... you get the idea. And, if the mood strikes you, try adding a touch of whimsy as well.
Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Ashli's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by August 18th and to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's Challenge winner will be announced in the August 30th Layout of the Week post.
Wow! This is so beautiful! I keep staring at it and noticing all the variety in the tiny pieces. A mushroom, butterflies, an acrylic piece. And then there's the amazing stitching! Wonderful page, @soapHOUSEmama!
