Weekly Challenge | Layers with Lilith

Tags:

This week, our member Lilith (username Lilith E.), is challenging you to use lots of layers on your next project. We're excited to turn our weekly challenges over to the SC community! Check in each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to follow Lilith here at Studio Calico to see more of her work and keep up with her!

When I started working on this layout I just wanted to have fun. I didn't have a lot of time and had already cut out a diamond shape background some time ago. I decided to use it with one of Studio Calico kits. I jotted down a couple of ideas which I wanted to incorporate: watercolour background, lots of layers, and stamped title. I usually get working really quickly and don't go for extra supplies. What I love most about this layout are the layers.

My challenge is to layer "above and below". Use a cut file, your die cut machine or your punches and create a shape and layer paper beneath it. Layer behind your photo, on top of your photo, just think of LOTS OF LAYERS. Why not try some fussy cutting, like I did with those delicate green leaves. Can't wait to see all those layers.

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Lilith's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by September 1st and to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's Challenge winner will be announced in the September 13th Layout of the Week post.
