Weekly Challenge | Color Pop with Diane

Tags:

This week, our member Diane (username dearlydee), is challenging you to add a pop of bold color your next project. We're excited to turn our weekly challenges over to the SC community! Check in each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to follow Diane here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her!

Hi there! I’m so happy to share this layout with you this week’s challenge! My layout started with the August LOAW #2 challenge. I created a triangle background with my Silhouette, backed that with another triangular pattern and sewed around all the edges. At this point I had a pretty monochromatic background and because my photos were pretty neutral in colour as well I decided I needed a pop of colour. Red was a natural choice because I am obsessed with those acetate letters! I layered a pile of vellum pieces behind my photos and made the top piece red by rubbing my Well Red ink onto it. A few red enamel dots and gems along with my compulsory wood veneer and I was all done! So my challenge to you this week is to create a neutral coloured layout and then add a pop of colour! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Diane's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by September 8th and to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's Challenge winner will be announced in the September 20th Layout of the Week post.
