Weekly Challenge | Artsy with Jen

This week, our member Jen (username jenkinkade), is challenging you to use an art medium or cut a photo creatively to use on your next project. We love our talented members! Check back each week as we ask one of our members to inspire you with a challenge based on one of their projects from our member gallery. Be sure to follow Jen here at SC and on Instagram to see more of her work and keep up with her!

Ideas for layouts or projects always start in my head, and I had been wanting to do a layout where I had hand lettered words behind or surrounding a photo that is cut out or use a photo with adequate white space. Tina has also done this in a few of her layouts, here is just one example.
If you follow me on Instagram @jenkinkade, you've seen how I've been doing a lot of calligraphy and hand lettering, and I really want to start incorporating it more in my scrapbooking.
I was getting anxious to play with my paint.plan.play. class supplies, so I used one of the patterned papers on my page and as inspiration for my layout. I used various tubes of Color Theory acrylic ink, scraping the color along my page. I allowed it to dry, stamped images over the paint, and added some ink splatters.

My challenge is to use an art medium like the Color Theory acrylics on your page, OR cut out a photo to use creatively on a project. If you do both, even better! I had a lot of fun experimenting with this idea and hope you do, too!

Now it’s your turn to create a project based on Jen's challenge! Share your new project for the challenge in the SC gallery (add the hashtag #SCchallenge to make it easier to find!), then link up your project in the comments of this post by October 27th and to be entered to win a $5 gift card to the Studio Calico Shop! This week's challenge winner will be announced in the November 1st Layout of the Week post.
