There is so much to see and do during the holidays, sometimes it's hard to slow down enough document it all. We asked some of our Creative Team members to offer up some holiday photo prompts to get you going this season. Get out your camera and get inspired!
Light! This time of year we have less daylight to capture photos so this prompt is to encourage you to use light from sources other than the sun. There are lots of holiday lights out to light up the scene, but also think about candles, computers, book lights, flashlights etc.
Hide. I wasn't sure what to call this prompt but hide in/behind something to capture a scene. It's a fun way to change up the perspective. You can take a photo through a Christmas tree, seasonal plants, a hole in a fence, gift wrapping piles, etc, etc.
Holiday Sparkle. Don't forget to capture all of the great holiday decorations and details. I love ornament photos cropped in tight. They make for really fun filler photos for December Daily.
Quiet Moments. The holidays are so crazy busy. Take time to capture the quieter moments too. One of our favorite traditions is having the boys read The Night Before Christmas to us before bed on Christmas Eve.
Capture your family traditions. For us, some traditions include a trip to the Christmas Tree farm to cut down our tree, new Christmas pajamas each year, and riding around looking at Christmas lights in our pajamas.
Embrace the imperfection. I rarely get a picture of my mother and I, so last year I insisted. Of course, I had one little wild man who suddenly wanted to have his picture made as well, and I had to hold him back. I love the moment captured. It shows us perfectly.
We'd love to see your take on these prompts! Post them to the gallery or to Instagram using the tag #SCphotoprompts.
