#NSDSC15 | Challenge 08 - Go BOLD! with Gillian Nelson and Brooke Takara

Why not try using an oversized photo as a focal point, experiment with large die-cut sentiments, use bright color palettes & play with contrast or technique on your projects? We've got some great ideas to help you make it BOLD!

Brooke Takara: GO BOLD! There are so many ways to "go bold" with a project. I chose to use COLOR to amp up the boldness of this layout, Saturday Stories. Starting with the SevenPaper Amelia 001 patterned paper may have been cheating a little because, I mean, if that's not a bold paper, I'm not sure what is. It was easy to simply add little details to each square, to help tell the story of our crazy Saturday. I like how the black and white photo really pops against all that color!

Supplies: SevenPaper Amelia 001 patterned paper, Lisse Street Scrapbook kit, Lisse Street project life kit, Daffodil add-on kit, Hyacinth add-on kit, Lily add-on kit, Carolina Moon scrapbook kit, Dean add-on kit, Cirque card kit, High Wire add-on kit, Tiny Attacher, Color Theory Inky Black Ink Pad, Glossy Accents, Precision Pen

Gillian Nelson: The word "bold" and my second born go hand in hand, so I knew I wanted to do a layout featuring this amazing young person. I chose to use typography in a bold way by forming a collage of photos from throughout his life, and then creating a clipping mask in Photoshop so that they filled the shape of an over-sized "S". For the right side of the layout, I combined bold patterns and colors from papers in assorted Studio Calico kits, setting them on a fun diagonal across the page. I wanted to keep the overall design of the page very simple so that it could be (very!) bold, but not overwhelming.

Supplies: paper, embellishments -- Carolina Moon, Odyssey, Roundabout, Sugar Rush; Thickers alpha -- Studio Calico Printshop Collection; pen -- Precision Pen .03; label -- Studio Calico printable labels; stapler -- metal mini stapler; flair -- K. Barteski

We can't wait to see your take on this challenge!
