Sunday Sketch | Lisa Spangler

This week, our layout sketch is an 8.5x11 layout with a stacked strips of paper, stitching, and fun journaling. Our card sketch features hand-cut elements and great use of washi, and our Project Life® sketch uses a 4x6 photo and a 3x4 photo with text overlay and embellished details. Get creative and be sure to share your projects here with us! We can't wait to see what you create! Creative Team member Lisa Spangler is joining us this week and sharing her take on the scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Lisa here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our layout sketch comes from Stephanie Bryan's Photograph layout:

Hey hey! Happy Sunday! It's Lisa S and I'm so happy to be here with you. I just love working with sketches as they are like eye candy to me -- delicious guilt-free candy! :)

I decided to use the scrapbook sketch to make a card. I just love how Stephanie stacked strips of papers plus all of the hearts she used, so I had to do the same!

I started out by using the Custom Note stamp set as my foundation. I stamped it on some of the cute polka dot paper from the Galileo Card main with something blue ink. Then I went to town adding hearts and strips of papers.

You may recognize the stamped and die cut hearts from the I Do! set by Kelly Purkey -- this set is designed for weddings, but I just heart all the hearts for everyday use! I really love scribbling some watercolor on a scrap of paper and then die cutting some hearts. You can see another card where I did this here. (LINK http://www.studiocalico.com/creative-team-galleri... I used one of the Flying Banner dies to add some dimension, too.

Then it was just a matter of embellishments. I grabbed some of the wood buttons from the Jupiter SB add-on and then mixed in some enamel dots from Galileo card main. I can't wait to give this to a friend -- she loves coffee and tea as much a I do so that wood button with the mug on it just had to be used on her card. Had to!

Sure hope you have time to play with the sketches this week. If you're *really* up for a challenge, how about using one of the sketches for a different kind of project than what it's for. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

I thought the "End" paper in Galileo would work for the layout sketch: http://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/168876-the-end
