Creating Layouts with your Project Life® Kits | Tracy Armstrong

Hey everyone! Tracy here! I hope you all are having a wonderful day! Today I'm going to show you how I used Project Life supplies on a traditional scrapbooking layout! I have so many supplies and I love mixing them up. It's not uncommon for me to use "scrapbook" products in my Project Life spreads and vice versa. I decided to use bits from the Fairground Project Life main and add-ons to create a scrapbook layout with the theme "Me Right Now".

I gathered up some supplies and spread them out on my desk. It looks like a giant mess, but it helps me be able to see everyone at once and then be able to pick out the cards/patterns/colours that I want to use. I used the graph paper from the Fairground Scrapbook main as my base, I trimmed it down to 9x12 as that's the size I do all of my layouts in.

I grabbed various cards and pieces from the 4x6 patterned paper pad and laid them out on top of the graph paper. I knew that the pictures of me was going to be in the bottom right corner, so I worked around that, placing things where I thought they would look best. I took some of the Project Life cards and cut them down into smaller squares so I was able to use more of them up. One of my favourite colour schemes is pink/orange/yellow and the pops of black worked out great as well!

I picked up this Pilot Frixon Erasable Pen from the shop during last months reveal and I am so glad that I did! It's quickly become one of my favourite pens to use. I like that it's more of a dark grey than your typical black pen and it's truly is erasable! I don't often use my handwriting on my layouts and spreads because I'm so worried that I'll mess up and ruin a photo or Project Life card. Now that I have this pen, I think I'll start to handwrite my journaling a lot more!

For one last little detail (and because I love them so much) I used the high heel stamp from the Single Girl Stamp Set and stamped onto a grey/white journal card. Another thing that I picked up last month during Reveal was the acrylic blocks from Lawn Fawn. Wow, I can't believe I didn't get something like this sooner. I was using very tiny (and sharp) ones before and these ones from the shop are so fantastic! When I'm stamping a use a little notebook to stamp off the remaining ink. You can use scrap paper if you want, but it's kind of fun to use a notebook because every time I do a new project I use a new page - the designs look pretty neat!

After I placed everything down, I used my dot glue runner to adhere the pieces to the graph paper. I usually just do one little swipe on each piece I'm gluing down because I always seem to end up changing my mind before I'm fully finished. And a little glue is much easier to remove than a lot of it! After I know for 100% certainty that I'm happy with the layout, I go back and glue things down a bit more. I'm really happy with how this layout turned out and I hope it will inspire you to create a traditional layout using your Project Life supplies!
