LOTW | Jil

Our Layout of the Week, Running: the Numbers, comes from our member Jil (username JilC). Jil's fun grid layout caught the attention of the Studio Calico community with its elements from the August Pop Art Scrapbook kit and its Hockney add-on. I was inspired by the way Ginny Hughes worked with this grid paper, and then when I received Ali Edwards’ Craft the Story stamp kit with “build” as its theme, I began to think about how I’ve built my life as a runner. I love running and have been a runner since I was 16, but I only started training for races about 7 years ago, when a different kind of building of this part of my life began. I figured I could craft that story in an interesting way by using the grid paper and what I had left of the cool numbers from the Hockney add-on. I also had one of the new exercise inspired stamp sets to work with, and those little images were perfect for the grid squares. I love playing with details and combining bits and pieces from my stash with the current Studio Calico kit, and that approach is very much reflected in this page, which was so much fun to make!
