Get creative, and be sure to share your projects here with us! We can't wait to see what you create! Today, Carson Riutta shares her take on the Scrapbook sketch!
Our Scrapbook layout sketch comes from Brooke Takara's You Are So Loved layout:

Our Documenter sketch comes from Mandie Pierce's Hello Sunshine spread:

Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spangler's Love ya, Texas! card:

I love a good scrapbook sketch, especially when it's a sketch based on a pretty amazing, yet fairly uncomplicated layout. I adore what Brooke did with the card alpha from the Pool Party scrapbook kit, and I love that she kept it bold and striking but simple. I was inspired to do the same, but with a different alpha - the stunning "big alpha card set" by Jasmine Jones. I chose a 9-letter phrase that paired well with the word "awesome" and kept the layout clean and simple. Using the sketch allowed me to let go of my handwriting issues and just use a pen like Brooke did instead of breaking out the typewriter for my journaling. Sometimes, a sketch can give you permission to do things you normally wouldn't! I used the pool washi from the kit to create the "awesome" title as well as the stars. This layout came together so quickly, thanks to the sketch and inspiration piece! I can't wait to see what you all create from this week's fantastic sketches!
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by July 18 in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the July 23 Layout of the Week post.

Here is my layout, based on the scrapbook layout sketch. I was inspired by Brooke and Carson's use of the black and white alphas.
