Sunday Sketch | Mel Blackburn
This week, our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout with the journaling and title between the two sides of a split photo. Our card sketch features repeated stamping for both embellishing and a title, and our pocket page sketch uses an embellished 3" x 4" journaling card and a 3" x 4" stamped photo. Creative Team contributor Mel Blackburn is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Mel here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.
Our scrapbook sketch comes from Anna Maria Wolniak's North Sea layout:
Our card sketch comes from Dana Fleckenstein's You're a Gem card:
Our pocket page sketch comes from Kelly Noel's July 2016 spread:
And here's Mel's take on our scrapbook sketch:
Hello, everyone! I’m excited to be participating in this week's Sunday Sketch. I was so very inspired by all of the projects, but the scrapbook sketch really spoke to me. I love the design placement of the picture and use of white space. Using the Lost River Scrapbook kit, I created layers to anchor this sweet picture of my oldest and youngest daughters. Since the sketch emphasized a vertical design, I opted to place my title vertically to the left of my picture. To mix up the title work, I replaced the letter "O" with a velum circle. This is a fun way to mix up title work, especially if you are short on letters like I was! I kept the journaling brief, and I used leftover cardstock to create a tone on tone effect. I look forward to seeing your takes on the week's sketches. Happy crafting!!!
