Sunday Sketch | Carson Riutta

This week, our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout with a stamped title and an array of patterned paper circles surrounding a photo strip. Our card sketch layers a bold, dimensional sentiment over strips of patterned paper, and our pocket page sketch features two 3" x 4" pocket cards housing journaling and geometric embellishments. Creative Team member Carson Riutta is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Carson here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Kelly Noel's Best Buds layout:

Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spangler's Dream card:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Catherine Davis' 100% spread:

And here's Carson's take on our scrapbook sketch:

Happy Sunday, friends! I hope you’re all finding a little time to craft this weekend. I’m thrilled to be here bringing you this week’s sketches, especially because the sketches this time around are from three of my biggest inspirations, Lisa, Kelly and Catherine. In my world of crafting, it’s hard to be more inspired than by those three very talented women. I decided to play with the scrapbook sketch based on Kelly Noel’s layout. I loved the circles, and I really wanted to make a layout as I’ve been taking a break from them lately.

I started by creating my own photo strip using two 3" x 4" photos and a journal card. I then went through my Documenter Kit, grabbing all the cards that coordinated with the color scheme, and started punching out circles. The final step was to embellish each of the circles without over doing it - never an easy task, as my MO is to always over embellish.

I hope you’ve been inspired as I have and I can’t wait to see what you all do with these sketches! Happy Crafting!

SUPPLIES: Kits – The Birds and the Bees Documenter Kit, Queen Bee; Stamps – Stamp + die set: Easter; Paper – Pet Cards by Hello Forever; Inks - Color Theory Premium Dye Ink (Deja Blue, Coral Bay); Other - sewing machine and silver thread, assorted circle punches

My layout is based on this week's SB sketch. I used a couple of my favorite flair and the Seven Paper Baxter stamp set that I've been waiting to use and the paper from the Finch Add-On for this layout.
