Sunday Sketch | Kelly Noel

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 12" x 12" layout featuring a photo on top of layers, offset by a title over journaling. Our card sketch has a large stamped element next to a title with embellishing around it. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" title card with sentiment creating diagonal movement and 3" x 4" photo card with journaling in the upper right corner. Creative Team member Kelly Noel is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Kelly here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Nina Christensen's layout These Two layout:

Our card sketch comes from Lisa Spangler's Quilly Appreciate It card:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Mandie Pierce's Project Life 2017, Week 5 spread:

And here's Kelly's take on our scrapbook sketch:

Working with sketches is one of my favorite ways to get started on a page, and I love how my layout often turns out to look nothing like the original sketch. For this layout, I was inspired by Nina's scrapbook sketch. I loved the basic composition of the design, and followed it pretty closely.

I stamped my title with the Mini Noah stamp set. It's the perfect size for stamping quotes or other long phrases! This set will get a lot of use on my projects. I thought about coloring them in with watercolor or other medium, but for this layout, I liked them just as they are.

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by May 1st in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the May 6th Layout of the Week post.

I used my die cut as my focal point on this card inspired from the card sketch.

Loved the sketch but not my photo of the layout. Hopefully I can get a better photo later today.
