NSD Crop Challenge | Create Layers with Nancy Damiano

Let's create some layers! The one design element that I return to again and again is layering clusters of patterns and colors. There no better way to add a quick punch to a layout.

I started this one with a scatter of colorful word bubbles across the top of the page. Repeating a shape or using the same type of embellishment makes for layers with nice, clean lines. The second layer at the top includes a very large monogram to balance out the shapes. The third and final layer includes a black circle sticker and a chipboard title. They are the perfect accessory! Alternating a chipboard frame and soft patterns and colors creates contrast and a nice shelf for the focus of the story.

My challenge to you is to create some fantastic layers of your own! Use swatches of patterned paper, dig into your wood veneer or chipboard stash, and layer them across your page. Remember that repetition of shape or color is a good thing. Be sure to share what you create. I can't wait to see your spin on this challenge!

When you complete this challenge, upload it to the member gallery and leave a link to your project in the comments below. See ALL of the crop challenges here.

Six different layers. I don't do scrapbook layouts very often but I love the layered effect.

Layers are always fun and I incorporated this into two of my layouts for this crop challenge: https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/202989-birthday & https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/202992-on-a-rock-mountains-behind-me

The first is just a simple layering of photo mats, while the second is a more playful layering of mats and lots of embellishments. I don't usually do a lot of layering in my layouts but this was fun when I could find a lot of embellishments that go well together.
