NSD Crop Challenge | Get Messy with Theresa Doan

I'm no artist by any means. But lately, I have loved playing with paint—watercolors, as well as acrylic paints. It's always fun to get a little messy and create a one-of-a-kind, unique piece. On this layout in my Traveler's Notebook, I took a couple of my favorite Color Theory paints and layered them with white gesso.

My challenge to you is to get messy! Create your own background with paint. Try acrylics or watercolors. Create a pattern or just make something random. Just have fun with it!

When you complete this challenge, upload it to the member gallery and leave a link to your project in the comments below. See ALL of the crop challenges here.

I hardly ever use paint! But I got out some Color Theory acrylic and made a background for this card: https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/202579-pl-card-with-hearts

Used yellow watercolor for a background for the sentiment on this card (and a little splattering): https://www.studiocalico.com/galleries/202581-love-you-mom

I got down and dirty with inks, a spray bottle, my fingers and a heat gun on mixed media paper. I tried to layer colors similar to those in the photo.

This was a chance to dust off my water color paints! I lifted Catherine Davis' layout to create this one:

Fun challenge! I love mixed media and recently started playing with pan pastels and love, love the results. Used 3 pan pastel colors mixed with gel medium applied over stencils for the background.

I used a mixture of gesso and paint. Did not come out like I hoped. Only 28 more pages to go before this journal is done.
