Sunday Sketch | Nancy Damiano
This week our scrapbook sketch is a 12" x 12" layout featuring a patterned grid in the upper half, anchored by a photo with embellishments in the bottom section of the page. Our card sketch has a centered title with an embellishment. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" title card with flair and 3" x 4" card with a photo and journaling. Creative Team member Nancy Damiano is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Nancy here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.
Our scrapbook sketch comes from Kelly Noel's Meant to Be layout:
Our card sketch comes from Carson Riutta's Happy Cubed card:
And our pocket page sketch comes from Kelly Noel's February 2017 spread:
And here's Nancy's take on our scrapbook sketch:
I love the clean simplicity of this sketch. The first thing I noticed was the cluster of die-cuts at the top and that's where I started my design. I used vellum word bubbles scattered at the top of the layout. Then I filled in the empty spots with die-cuts in different shapes and sizes. A final touch of chipboard embellishments adds a punch of texture.
The sketch showcases one special photo surrounded by layers. I like how the die-cuts look like they are holding the photo in place. I mimicked the same look by placing my photo on a chipboard frame and layering an arrow right on top. It clips my photo to the base!
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by May 22nd in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the May 27th Layout of the Week post.

The planner workshop had a challenge to use the attacher sticker and it seemed perfect to use the SB sketch for my layout. I used it as a tab for a hidden journal card.
