10th Anniversary Challenge | Scrap Recipe

For even more 10th Anniversary fun, we've rounded up ten of our favorite past blog challenges. We've asked our current Creative Team to share their take on these fun challenges, and we hope you'll play along too!

In this weekly challenge from 2013, Sasha Farina and Dani Flanders asked you to use a scrap recipe to create a project. They shared some inspiring ways to use the following elements: vellum, yellow, frame, stars, and at least 2 tags!

Who doesn't love a challenge with a pop of yellow! It's one of my favorite happy colors to design with, so let's see what we can come up with a few guidelines. Adding two tags, a frame, and some stars makes for an interesting design and challenge!

I started the layout on a bed of stars using the gray constellation paper from the "Written in the Stars" Kit. Two yellow borders give that gray a little lift in the color department. One special photo surrounded by a cluster of rectangles draws the eye right to it.

Layering tags and frames is a great way to add dimension to a layout. Instead of using the frame for a photo, consider framing out a handful of fun embellishments. The inside of the aqua strip frame was removed and placed diagonally to extend the stripe design.

Lastly, a chipboard title in bright blue is a bold addition to the yellow and gray background. Scattering a few enamel dots in different sizes adds a touch of whimsy and some color to the tags.

This challenge was fun and easy to complete. A bit of sunshiney yellow, stars, a frame, and two or more tags is all you'll need. I can't wait to see what you create!
