September 2017 Member Spotlight

My name is Katie Rose and I am so excited to be this month’s member spotlight! I live in a small town on the coast of NH with my husband Al and out three kiddos ages 19, 16, and 11. My sister and I own a childcare center for 120 kids and we just celebrated out 15th year in business! I have been scrapbooking in the traditional sense that we know now since 2001 and have been doing project life since 2011. But I have always loved stationary suppliesnotebooksmarkersstickers, etc. It is not surprising that I fell in love with this hobby!

Member Since:

I have been a member of Studio Calico since 2010. I will never forget the Candy Shoppe kit….it was the one that got away! I didn’t want to let that happen again! I have enjoyed how the kits have evolved over the years and really love how many options there are now. The Documenter kits are my favorite! The cards are beautiful and I have never met a stamp in the kit that I haven’t loved! The kits sometimes include things I wouldn’t normally think to add to my pocket pages and it pushes my creativity. I always love the final product!

Favorite Aspect of SC:

My favorite part of Studio Calico are the classes! I have gained so much inspiration from the classes I have taken here. My favorite addition to Studio Calico in recent years is the kit workshops. I love the videos that are included and the exclusive printables and cut files are always so fun! I am taking the Well Traveled class right now and am so inspired to get my TN on!

Must-Have Product:

I would definitely have to say the stamps! My Studio Calico stamps are my most used. They are so versatile, usually with great phrases as well as tried and true shapes and fun, new designs. I was so inspired by April Foster’s recent Instagram Story in which she used several stamps from the most recent stamp kit. She repeated the shapes in such cool ways. Paired with the color theory inks the stamps are a must have!

Not to brag but..

Right now I am most proud of the first half of my project life album for this year. I got pretty behind over the summer so when the kids went back to school I gathered my Studio Calico Documenter kits and went to town, I added typed journaling which I do not typically do and not only do I love the way it looks mixed with my handwriting but I was able to add more meaningful journaling when I had a bit more to say. I just love the way it came out. I honestly cannot stop flipping through it. Other than that my favorite projects are two vacation albums I have done…a 6x8 Disney pocket page album and a TN sized lake vacation album.

What Now?

I am currently still plugging away at my 2017 project life album. I also am working on another vacation album documenting an eight day cruise we took with friends this past April. And I am really looking forward to December Daily this year which I am going to attempt to do in a Traveler’s Notebooks!

Shout-out!

I would like to give a shout out to the entire Creative Team here at Studio Calico who month after month provide amazing inspiration with the kits and push me to think outside the box!
