Using the Starlight Kits with Mandie Pierce

Tags:

Hi! Mandie here with a fresh layout using the "Starlight" Kits. I made this layout using mostly the Scrapbook Kit, but I snuck in just a piece of the Documenter Kit, as well. I loved all of the colors and patterned papers in the kit this month—so many good things!

This is a 9" x 12" layout. However, it could easily be adapted to 8.5" x 11" or 12" x 12". I wanted to keep the focus on the photo. This photo is a current favorite of our daughter at school right now. I printed the photo in 9" x 6" so it would take up the full width of the layout.

I love the gray gradient pattern from the Scrapbook Kit. I knew I wanted to use it as a background for a layout. It provided a subtle pattern that would not distract from the rest of the layout. Sometimes I like to mix it up from my standard white cardstock.

To make the title, I used one of the transparency shapes. Weren't those so fun? I layered the word "rock" over the star. I chose the striped paper at the top of the page to match the green from the star. I chose that to be the only pattern paper I used to keep from detracting from the photo.

To finish off my layout, I printed my journaling on some white cardstock (I usually use my typewriter but since the move, I have been unable to find the power cord!). I layered the "magic" acrylic from the Documenter Kit over my photo because that's how this picture of our daughter looks to me. Then I added in some of the puffy shapes and buttons from the Scrapbook Kit.

When I add buttons to a layout, I use a mini glue dot or a spot of Zip Dry to hold the button in place for sewing.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today! I hope you were inspired to use some of your products from the "Starlight" Scrapbook Kit!
