Sunday Sketch | Jen Chapin
This week our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout featuring centered journaling in the top section on the page, with two photos below and a title in the bottom right-hand corner. Our card sketch is a horizontal card with a focal point and title in the bottom right-hand corner. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" journaling card with a circular element and a 3" x 4" photo card with a simple sentiment. Creative Team member Jen Chapin is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Jen here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.
Our scrapbook sketch comes from Mandie Pierce's Never Grow Up layout:
Our card sketch comes from Natalie Elphinstone's Thank You card:
And our pocket page sketch comes from Kelly Noel's July 2017 spread:
And here's Jen's take on our scrapbook sketch:
Hi there! Jen here, and today I'm sharing a layout I created with the "Gypsy Moon" Kits based on a layout by Mandie Pierce. I loved creating my take on this layout. I started with a few photos of my daughter at the talent show this summer. She did such a great job and I really wanted to make sure I documented it!
For the background of the page, I used a piece of Studio Calico grid paper from my stash, then layered on some patterned paper from the Scrapbook Kit. I also added a bit of navy cardstock for some contrast.
Next, I adhered my photos and stamped my title above them using this month's stamp subscription stamp. To finish off the layout, I added a wood ampersand and some stickers from the add-on kit. I cut my journaling into strips and adhered those to the bottom of the page. Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today and I hope you'll try this sketch soon because it's a great one! Have a good week!
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by October 30th in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the November 4th Layout of the Week post.

My project was created from the card sketch. I used the Katie Thierjung Bee Happy stamp set to stamp and emboss the sentiment on the front of my card. I also used that stamp set to create the inside sentiment. I have been saving that wonderful Pebbles bee paper and this worked perfectly for my card, using Gold enamel pen to outline the sentiment and the card base. I asked my daughter what she wanted for her birthday and she wanted to take a winter Bee keeping class for her and her husband. This was the perfect time to use that paper and quite appropriate for the theme for her bdy card!
