Using the Homestead Kits with Carson Riutta

Tags:

Hello and happy November, my memory-keeping mavens! I had a ton of fun this past month using the "Homestead" Documenter Kit to get all my latest photos in the books. In fact, I ended up creating four Documenter pages using the kit and by the time I got around to creating this page, I was pretty tired of looking through my own photos. I mean, my kids are cute, but even a doting mother needs to mix things up once in a while. I remembered that I had access (through a shared online album) to some gorgeous photos of one of my best friends' big day, and I immediately got inspired to create this page!

We didn’t get to attend Kate’s nuptials, as the couple eloped to New Zealand and were married atop an amazing mountain in Queenstown. But even though we couldn’t attend, I knew that this occasion still needed a place in my album as it was definitely one of the year’s highlights!

These photos are absolutely stunning and it was such a treat for me to be able to scrap such exceptional photos! The oranges and yellows in the "Homestead" Kit were a perfect complement to the soft colors in the photos and really helped to tell the story of Kate and Adam’s wedding day. The addition of the gold alpha stickers from the More Details add-on kit was the last touch in elevating this page to wedding-worthy status.

I was inspired last week while perusing Instagram to try a split vertical photo in two 3" x 4" pockets and this image of Kate’s bouquet was perfect for the technique. What a great way to add a vertical photo to a Design A page protector without shrinking it down to 3" x 4" format. I may be doing this all the time now!

Thank you so much for joining me here on the Studio Calico blog today. I hope you’ll be inspired to dig into those "Homestead" Kits and really step up the glam on your next layout!
