Sunday Sketch | Maggie Massey

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 11" layout featuring a photo and heavy journaling in the center of the page with a title and stamping anchoring the bottom of the layout. Our notebook sketch has a small verticle photo and vertically-oriented title on the left page and repeating stamped images on the right. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" title card with heavy journaling and a 3" x 4" card with light journaling and circular embellishments. Creative Team member Maggie Massey is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's notebook sketch! Be sure to follow Maggie here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Mandie Pierce's Currently layout:

Our notebook sketch comes from April Foster's This Has My Heart spread:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Nancy Damiano's Happy Disney Joy spread:

And here's Maggie's take on our documenter sketch:

Hello, hello, everyone! I'm so excited to be here today with my take on Nancy's Documenter spread! I've started my very first year-long Traveler's Notebook this year, and I've promised myself to keep things simple, simple, simple. I've really found it's the only way I can make sure I keep up with all that needs to be documented.

As soon as I saw the two bottom cards in Nancy's project, I thought they would make the perfect TN layout. I found a recent photo that I wanted to scrap and printed it out at 4" x 6". Then I took one of my favorite designs from the January 2018 4x6 paper pad and cut a 4" x 4" circle out of both the photo and the paper. I cut them each roughly in half (stacking one on top of the other when I did so to make sure I'd have a complete circle when I pieced them together) and arranged them across my notebook pages. Then I traced around my photo/paper with a slightly larger circle stencil and colored in some of the overlapping lines to add a little whimsy and visual interest.

I added a few chipboard circles and stamps from the main kit to mirror the circles on the sketch cards and a couple of the sentiment die-cuts from the "Sugar Mountain" add-on to imitate Nancy's stamping.

I continued to follow the basic design of the cards on the left side of my spread and added some basic handwritten journaling around my photo. I love the way this looks, and I'll be sure to do it again on future projects.

All in all, I stayed true to the design of the sketch, and I love the outcome. Simple enough to be do-able, but embellished enough to make me feel creative. ;) Thanks so much for taking a look!
