Using the Candyland Kits with Marcy Penner

Hi, everyone. Marcy here today to share a bit about one of my pages from the "Candyland" Gallery. You might not believe it, but in this particular notebook spread, I've repeated the same design element three times.

This layout is all about stacking. I used the design idea of vertical columns in my spread several times.

First, the base layer of my spread is the patterned paper on the left page. It's easy to see here that I've stacked two varying sized papers (a 4" x 6" and a 3" x 4" journaling card, in this case) on top of one another. The lighter paper lives on the bottom portion of my page so that my photo (when placed there) will pop.

Second, on this very same page, I've also stacked most of the other components of my spread. My photo, a variety of word strips, and even a stamped image are stacked and layered on top of my background.

And finally, I designated the right page of my spread to my title and journaling. Even though I originally just started with a stamped title (using the Fill In stamp set) this side too began to mimic a stacked design when I added in my journaling and another word strip.

I love how using the same design element three different times on one layout worked to tie everything together to create a layout I love.
