Sunday Sketch | Pam Baldwin

This week our scrapbook sketch is a 12" x 12" layout featuring a repeating pattern background of triangles with a square photo slightly offset from the center of the page. Our notebook sketch has a full page of layered heart embellishments on the left page and a heart-shaped title, photo, and journaling on the right page. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" photo with a simple sentiment at the bottom and a 3" x 4" title and journaling card with text running diagonally across it. Creative Team member Pam Baldwin is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's scrapbook sketch! Be sure to follow Pam here at SC to see more of her work and keep up with her.

Our scrapbook sketch comes from Catherine Davis's Be Mine layout:

Our notebook sketch comes from Barbara Picinich's Hey Nineteen spread:

And our pocket page sketch comes from Kelly Noel's March Overview spread:

And here's Pam's take on our pocket page sketch:

Hi, friends! Pam here, working with this week's Sunday Sketches to make a fun new spread for my 6" x 8" album. My family recently adopted a new kitty, "Pete the Cat." And seriously, within the first four days of his arrival, more than 80% of the photos on my camera roll were alllllll about him. I thought it might be fun to start a "Pete the Cat" album to hold the ridiculous number of photos and the fun little stories about our crazy new cat. This week's Documenter sketch was inspired by one of Kelly's lovely projects and the perfect way to kickstart my spread. :)

I love love love that journaling card with the diagonal separation through it. I adapted the idea for the photo of Pete in the top right of my spread, cutting one of the patterned journaling cards from the "Bookmarked" Documenter Kit and laying it on top of my photo. I used a craft knife to trim the shape of his paw from the photo so that the journaling card could be tucked underneath and I really like the way it turned out. It adds a whimsical touch. :)

Once my photo and journaling card were in the pocket, I used a craft knife to cut a little flap from the page protector in the same spot so I could tuck the kraft tag under his paw as well. The tag is adhered to the outside of the page protector with dimensional foam tabs.

I used the inspiration from the second card in the sketch and adapted it to the full page 6" x 8" photo on the left side of my spread. I typed out a bit of journaling and added it to my photo with dimensional foam tabs. With a page that size, the journaling alone on the photo felt like it needed a little something more, so I added the floral vellum from the "Bookmarked" Scrapbook Kit and another one of the kraft die-cuts to fill in the space and create a bit of continuity across the spread.

I'm so looking forward to seeing how you use this week's sketches! Thanks for stopping by today. :)

Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. I used the scrapbook sketch to create a page in my mini album for the mini book class. Triangles were from stash of journal cards.

As soon as I saw the scrapbooking sketch I felt so inspired, both by the sketch itself and by Catherine Davis's cute layout "Be Mine".
I have turned the sketch sideways and made some minor adjustments to make it fit my 9X12 layout.

I started with the scrapbook sketch, and then the page sort of took a turn. But I kept the idea of the background. https://studiocalico.com/galleries/211072-atl-winter
