Using the Be Happy Kits with Marcy Penner

If there's one thing I'm really loving right now it's stacking elements on my spreads...notebook or traditional scrapbook page it doesn't matter! It's a great way to play around with traditional supplies and little bits and pieces of things in your stash. I can't be the only one who has a drawer of little precious bits of patterned paper that she just can't bear to throw out.

On this layout in my "Be Happy" April gallery, I challenged myself to incorporate a journaling card (or two) from the Documenter Kit on my spread. After a little playing around with my photo and the cute little rain cloud card, I decided that a long narrow column would be a great way to emphasize the rain on the card and its vertical orientation.

From there, it was just a matter of arranging my elements and layering a few stickers on top of the card and my journaling tag to give them a little more interest.

I think it's pretty clear that "stacked" is my new "grid" when it comes to page designs. It's a great design that works particularly well on 8.5" x 11" scrapbook pages and the narrow pages of traveler's notebooks. It compliments the height of the page and provides a well-designed spread in a minimal amount of time! I hope you give this design a try in your next project! I think you might just love it as much as I do.
