We're thrilled to have the lovely and talented Nina Christensen as one of our guest designers this month and are excited to get to know her better today! Be sure to follow Nina here at Studio Calico to keep up with her and see more of her beautiful work.
I'm a graphic designer and mommy of two living in small-town Denmark. I've been paper crafting since forever but specifically fell in love with scrapbooking when I had my daughter seven years ago and was looking for ways to document our new lives together. This love has since spread into planning and art journaling too.
The lines have always blurred between my job as a graphic designer and my personal passion for paper play. Regularly getting ink on my hands and manually arranging beautiful pieces of patterned paper and embellishments helps me keep a fresh perspective on a job that tends to be largely digital and where it's easy to get stuck in the same old design habits.
I'm inspired by Danish nature and design which I think shows in all my creative endeavors. To me, that means simplicity with lots of texture. Nothing is more beautiful to me than a seemingly simple design that, when you look closer, has some brilliant detail to it. Imperfection is incredibly attractive to me too.
Hey Girl | A Week Planned in My Traveler's Notebook – My traveler's notebook is mainly used for school things and plain old note-taking. So it makes me extra happy to have these colorful weekly overviews in the patterned page notebook from the "Hey Girl" Planner Kit. I generally don't spend a lot of time on making fancy detailed decorations in my planners so the kit just makes it so easy to add that playful flavor.
Hey Girl in My Holo Planner – My home planner has become next level cute with the little food-themed stamps and puffy stickers to accent my meal planning. I'm trying new ways to eat healthier and sometimes it's really hard to break old habits. Having it all planned out and looking beautiful in my planner is a must for me!
