Using the Hey Girl Documenter Kit with Barbara Picinich

Hello, everyone! Barbara here to share a little bit more about my Hello Hollywood! notebook spread. I was super inspired by the new city stamp sets and could not wait to use the Los Angeles set. Our family loves to travel, and since our daughter goes to a year-round school, we get lots of time off other than the summer months to travel and have fun. For this trip, we went down to the Los Angeles area and one of our afternoons was spent in Hollywood. We walked around the Walk of Fame and then spent a few hours at Madam Tussaud's Wax Museum. My daughter had so much fun interacting with all of the displays and, of course, hamming it up for the camera that I ended up with a ton of photos from the trip.

I didn't' have enough space to share photos of the Walk of Fame, but I still wanted to incorporate that aspect of the day into this spread. So I decided to make Walk of Fame stars for the wax figures. I first stamped the star stamp on a piece of paper to measure how much space I had inside the star and then typed out the names on the computer. I spaced them out enough so that they would allow me to stamp the stars after it was printed.

I stamped the star on top of the vellum and set it aside to layer over the rest of my stamping when I was done. I decided I wanted to layer more stars to get a little bit more color into the spread, so I stamped across the page using the "Sunny Day" and "Well Red" inks. I made sure to take into account where I was going to place my photos so that the stamped starts would move across the page and be peaking out from under the photos.

Once I was done with the stamping, I added in my photos and then I cut apart my stars and adhered them down on the page using a vellum adhesive. I added them last because I like how the vellum looked overlapping the photos instead of being tucked underneath. I intentionally left room in the bottom right corner to title the spread, and I used a few cards from the Documenter Kit for my stamping. I used the yellow speech bubble card to stamp the movie camera and fussy cut that apart. I used the red dotted card to stamp the "Weekend Getaway" phrase and then just started layering more stamps around it. I stamped the movie film onto vellum so that it would be sheer on the page and I love how that turned out.

I used a few of the enamel dots from the Documenter Kit and the little red glasses puffy sticker to add some dimension and it was done. I hope you have fun documenting your travels with the city stamps. I sure had fun using this set.
