Sunday Sketch | Kelly Noel
This week our scrapbook sketch is a 9" x 12" layout featuring a wide strip of patterned paper at the top, a vertical photo near the center, and journaling and a title on the right side of the page. Our notebook sketch has a title over journaling on the left page and a grid of four photos and simple embellishments on the right. And our pocket page sketch features a 3" x 4" photo with a small embellishment in the upper right-hand corner and a 3" x 4" title card with a row of enamel dots. Creative Team member KellyNoel is joining us this week and sharing her take on the week's notebook sketch! Be sure to follow Kelly to see more of her work and keep up with her.
Our scrapbook sketch comes from Mandie Pierce's Cuddle Up layout:
Our notebook sketch comes from Maggie Massey's Fun with Filters spread:
And our pocket page sketch comes from Marie Lottermoser's Girl Power spread:
And here's Kelly's take on our notebook sketch:
I was so excited to see the sketches for this week. I was inspired by each of them, but I'm hopelessly addicted to any kind of grid design so Maggie's notebook sketch caught my eye right away and I knew that was the sketch I was going to use to inspire my project. I kept the grid of photos similar, just grouped 3 photos instead of 4 and added a blank space for embellishing. I had some leftover chipboard pieces from the Expedition scrapbook kit that were begging to be used, so I grouped them together along with some of the wood veneer pieces from the kit, as well.
My title and journaling are similar to the sketch, but since I adapted the sketch to fit an 8.5" x 11" background, I moved the title and journaling to directly underneath my photo grid. I love how simple this layout is, but how it tells a story and includes 3 photos! It came together quickly and easily, which was an added bonus!
Now it's your turn! Make a project using one of this week's sketches as a starting point, then share it in the Studio Calico gallery. Use the hashtag #SCsketch to make it easier for other members to find! Leave us a link to your project by July 2nd in the comments here to be entered to win a $5 gift card to Studio Calico Shop. This week's sketch winner will be announced in the July 7th Layout of the Week post.

Awesome. Great sketch! Thanks for the inspiration- I don’t do TN’s so it’s great to see how to adapt these to traditional layouts.

Here's my take on the notebook sketch. I have used three photos instead of four on this notebook spread, that will go in my TNB as soon as it arrives.

I used the scrapbook sketch to make a 12x12 layout. And I'm just now noticing that I sort of incorporated half of the Notebook sketch (but not intentionally): https://studiocalico.com/galleries/212903-take-me-to-the-beach
